Crusader Football Camps
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do we drop off the children?
A: Brown Field
A:
You
can sign up online and pay the full price in advance.
You can also request a paper brochure to
mail in payment.
Q:
What
is the camper
- - coach ratio?
A:
We
target a ratio for our camps of no more than 10 campers per coach, and we
frequently have a ratio that is even smaller and more personal than that!
Q:
Do
the campers wear pads?
A:
No.
Campers wear shorts and T-shirts, and all
drills and challenges are based on the development of technique, not physical
contact.
Players will block bags in
drills and in challenges will block other players, but again the emphasis will
be on the footwork and technique, not brute force.
Q:
What
kind of shoes should the campers wear?
A:
Tennis
shoes are fine, but campers may wear molded-sole shoes, such as soccer shoes,
when the camp is outside.
If rain forces
the camp inside, all campers must wear tennis shoes and no cleats of any kind
are allowed.
Q:
Where
do we go on the first day?
A: Check-in
will take place on the first day at a location to be determined on the Valparaiso University
Campus beginning one-half hour prior to the starting time of camp.
Q:
Should
we bring a water bottle?
A:
We
will provide water and Gatorade throughout the camp, but some campers prefer to
bring their own bottle for two reasons:
1) they don’t have to wait in line to get a drink and 2) they can put
ice in their container for a colder drink (although the ice will melt fairly
rapidly in many water bottles!).
